Support for Excellence in Education
"SEE"
SEE is a parent-to-parent support and advocacy group within the Morris School District whose primary focus is to ensure quality education for all children, but especially for the gifted, talented, and high-ability learner.
SEE goals include:
- Giving parents of high-ability children a voice in the Morris School District. SEE board members maintain a dialogue with teachers and administrators, offering insight and feedback on curriculum design and policy creation.
- Acting as a resource for information on gifted and high-ability learners as well as providing a venue for parents to come together to discuss the special needs of their children and families.
- Maintaining ties with regional, state, and national gifted educational associations.
- Maintaining social networking sites to provide our members with up-to-date information in the world of gifted learning and allowing them access to interactive discussions.
SEE holds several presentations throughout the year, often bringing in experts in the field of gifted and high-ability learners. In the past, SEE has also had administrators from the Morris School District present to its members on topics such as standardized testing and its meaning, gifted curriculum and what it is, and criteria for acceptance into the MSD Quest program.
Each year SEE holds a children’s event where families from the Morris School District can come together and enjoy a fun evening of enrichment and friendship. Previous children’s events have included: making hoover crafts, circle drumming (rhythms from around the world), mask making and robotics.
